Upon visiting a thrift store, I immediately make my way to the frames section. People, this is almost always a gold mine for finding steals on frames for all kinds of projects. This time was no different. The gold frame you see just above was patiently awaiting my arrival, and it was just $1.50. Seriously. I knew immediately I wouldn’t even need to paint it. It was perfection.

I knew I needed to have it to frame a sparkly dimensional flake, but what would the background in the frame be? I wandered on, assuming I’d figure that part out later. Not more than a few minutes later, I stumbled across a section of old sheet & church booklet music. Like, boxes of the stuff. I bought a box and made my way home. One of the sheets magically fit in my frame after folding it in half, so boom. I had a magical backdrop. You could also choose wrapping paper, scrapbook paper or anything else that’s got a sweet pattern to it to go in the frame.

After framing your paper design, simply peel the paper from the foam squares on the back of the snowflake and adhere it right in the center. Project: complete. Paper Riot Co DIY Framed Snowflakes Holiday Decor
Gold Thrift Store FrameIn the same tub of frames, I found this dated gold gem. Although I did totally dig the gold finish, I decided it needed a little softening. I spray painted it with Rustoleum Universal Pearl Metallic Spray Paint in Champagne Pink and set it aside to dry.

While my frame was drying, I designed the background sheet using a sheet of snow white cardstock paper adorned with silver dots from the Glitz ‘N Glam Dimensional Snowflakes (they’re included with peel and stick snowflake decals along with six lovely, large glittery dimensional flakes in this collection). Insert the cardstock into the frame, then peel the paper from the foam and adhere to center of frame. Boom – instant glam.
