DIY Project Idea: Fancy Bottles

by

Ever scroll through Pinterest wishing you could create some of the beautiful upcycled projects you see, but are terrified of the impending epic Pinterest fail? Have no fear – this one’s easy. Like, really easy.

Supplies you’ll need:
Paper Riot Gold Hearts Wall Decals
Spray Paint
Glass Bottles

Step 1: First, you’ll need some bottles.
For this project, we used 3 soda bottles, a spaghetti sauce jar, a jalapeño coins jar and a fancy olive oil jar. The more varying sizes and shapes you choose, the more fun the final project will be! All bottles were soaked and washed in hot, soapy water and had the labels removed.

Step 2: Next, you’ll need some spray paint.
We chose some light, fresh pastel colors in a variety of finishes:

We chose Krylon Sea Glass in Rose, Rustoleum Universal Formula in Matte Robin’s Egg and Rustoleum Universal Pearl Metallic in Champagne Pink.

PLEASE NOTE: we also show Antique gold spray paint in the photo, however we did not use it in this project.

One very important tip when painting the bottles:  applying several light coats of paint works best to avoid drips. After all coats have been applied, allow bottles to dry overnight before proceeding to Step 3. (We know it’s hard to wait, but it’s really important!)

Step 3: Lastly, you’ll adhere the decals.
Simply peel and stick a gold heart decal onto each bottle. NOTE: Due to the nature of this project and the fresh paint, please assume that once decals have been adhered, they should not be removed to be repositioned. It likely will damage the paint finish on the glass bottles.

Step 4: Arrange them on a lovely thrift store tray or mirror for maximum impact.
Okay, so you can actually arrange these cute upcycled bottles anywhere you like. They are totally fun sitting on a pretty gold mirror, but that part isn’t necessary. Because of their overwhelming cuteness factor, they’d make the perfect addition to a sweet baby nursery, bathroom or even on Granny’s coffee table. Anywhere you want to add a little fresh beauty to your home decor.
